TOOTHLESS TIGERS STRANGLED BY OCTOPUS**

St.Aloysius School Sports Ground, Highgate

JUDD STREET TIGERS 97 all out lost to OCTOPUS CC 99-1 by 9 wickets

Not much of a match report – but then, not much of a match.

Octopus CC easily defeated a weakened Tigers side in a one-sided contest on a showery day in north London. Having to bat first on an artificial pitch after heavy rain in the morning, plus another brisk shower which delayed the start, and being a man short after a late withdrawal, was always going to be difficult against strong opposition. The Tigers struggled to 97 all out in 32 overs against good bowling, again not helping themselves with too many batsmen wasting their wickets. Only Mike Herlihy (31) showed the right application to master the conditions, well supported by James Lord (19) and Dave Rawlings (12), with Barnaby Pinfield, batting much too low at No.8, stranded on 10 not out.

The outfield had dried considerably by the time Octopus batted, and with most of the front line Tiger bowlers en vacances, they had little difficulty in knocking off the runs in 17 overs. Four catches went down and the only wicket was Smith who retired out on 53.

A bad day at the office and one to forget.
